Are you a candidate for Life Coaching?
'Life Coaching deals with functional persons who want to move toward higher function – and achieve excellence while creating an extraordinary life.
Psychotherapy, on the other hand, generally deals with emotional/behavioral problems and disruptive situations – and seeks to bring the client to normal function by focusing on his/her dysfunction.'
- Excerpt from ICF Training Manual.
You must, first of all, be actively pursuing an acting career. There also needs to be at least a moderate level of self-esteem and an understanding of what the desired outcome is. If you are generally healthy and happy and want to know how to create your future as an actor based on having a strong personal foundation then you are a great candidate for coaching!
Coaching does not allow for large amounts of time discussing the past or negatives. It is very present and future oriented and encourages toward-motivation. It's an equal partnership where both coach and coachee design the plan and focus on values-based goals, language, needs and removing blocks. (Read more at What is Actors Life Coaching?)
If, on the other hand, you are wanting support with old issues, old pain or current traumas, you are best suited for therapy. Therapy also provides help with feelings, conflict, blocks, fears, phobias and basic self-esteem issues. Before contacting us for Actors Life Coaching please consider which type of support you are best suted for at this time.
